A humanoid has eye level and a handshake. A robot dog has speed, stairs and terrain. At some events the dog is exactly the right choice, and at the best ones you have both. Eight situations where four legs win.
What a robot dog can do
The Unitree Go2 weighs around fifteen kilograms, runs, jumps, climbs stairs, handles grass and gravel and does tricks on command: it sits, gives a paw, turns around, stands on its hind legs. It moves faster than a humanoid and is far less sensitive to the floor. Like the humanoid, it comes with an operator.
8 situations where the dog works better
1. Outdoor events
Festivals, town celebrations, outdoor promotions. The dog runs on grass, gravel and paving. A humanoid needs a flat floor, the dog does not.
2. Children and family events
Children run up to the dog, while they approach a humanoid cautiously. Open days, company family days, school events, here the dog wins.
3. Venues with stairs
Historic buildings, galleries, manor houses. The dog climbs the stairs, a humanoid takes the lift or has to be carried.
4. Roadshows and several stops a day
The dog packs and unpacks quickly and copes with transport and frequent moves. On a roadshow around stores it is the more practical partner.
5. Sports and automotive events
A dog at a stadium, on a race track or next to a new car looks natural. The dynamics of the dog match the dynamics of the brand.
6. Filming in motion
The dog runs alongside the camera, jumps, does turns. It adds action to an advert or a video for social networks that a humanoid cannot deliver.
7. Sampling and handing things out
A dog with a basket or a branded backpack on its back carries samples among people. People take them themselves because they want to be near it.
8. Smaller budget, larger area
The dog covers a large area faster and its rental tends to be simpler in terms of logistics. If you need to be seen across the whole trade fair, not just at the stand, it is the one.

The humanoid stands at the stand or on stage, welcomes people and poses for photos. The dog runs around, attracts people from a distance and brings them to the humanoid. Two robots hold attention twice as long, and photos with both at once are the ones that get shared the most.
